Riverside City College Welcome Week 2020

Dr. Wolde-Ab IsaacIt is a pleasure to extend a welcome to you on behalf of the Riverside Community College District. Your attendance today at Riverside City College’s Welcome Week is just the first step in your higher-educational journey.

While this probably won’t be the last institution you will attend, it will be the place where you will be building your life’s foundation. Please don’t take this journey lightly. What you accomplish over the next two years will provide for better and greater opportunities — in your education, in your life, and in the ability to provide for your family.

This week is an opportunity to make connections with members of your incoming class and current students, as well as faculty and staff. I encourage you to explore the academic programs available at Riverside City College as well as educational resources, and campus life opportunities.

You have chosen to enroll in a college that is dedicated to supporting you as you unlock your potential, pursue your passion, and begin your progression into a life-long career path.

The faculty and staff at RCC are student-centered. Every day, these individuals work to ensure your ability to achieve success in your studies and reach your career goal. Although we have just met, we believe in each and every one of you. I hope you will bring a commitment to learning, not just in the classroom or labs, but across the education landscape — from club involvement to theatre and athletics attendance to the other campus activities that will enrich yourself and your community.

Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D.
Chancellor, Riverside Community College District

Dr. Gregory AndersonWelcome to RCC, where you will experience distinguished faculty and highly-skilled staff who are committed to helping you achieve your goals. Our entire team is committed to your success, helping you achieve your full potential so that you can attain your academic and career goals. Whether your plans include transferring to a four year college or university, training for a career, or gaining new skills that will prepare you for more success, RCC is your ideal choice.

Through the COVID-19 crisis, our students have found success while learning at a distance, and that will continue when classes eventually resume on campus. At RCC, you will find eight instructional pathways, each with an academic engagement center that offers resources and a dedicated success team designed to guide you toward completing a degree or certificate. That team--and everyone else throughout the College--will help prepare you for the next steps in your education or career.

For 104 years, RCC has remained committed to fostering a learning community that celebrates diversity, improves society, nurtures personal growth, and inspires academic, civic, and economic leadership. We serve over 30,000 students annually in more than 100 degree and certificate programs.

Your opportunities to enhance your experience while on campus include 18 high-performing athletics teams, nearly 50 clubs, a highly-decorated Model United Nations program, worldclass arts, state-of-the-art Career Technical Education programs, and an award-winning Outdoor Plant Laboratory. If you are connected to the military, our staff in the Veterans Resource Center is looking forward to serving you. Similarly, if you are a current or former foster youth, our Guardian Scholars Foster Youth Support Program is designed to support your educational journey.

On behalf of the College faculty and staff, it gives me sincere pleasure to welcome you to Riverside City College. Each of us is ready to guide you on your path to greatness!
